Just want Aurora Borealis?
Have you ever looked up at the dark, dark night? Sometimes, pretty colors come out to play. They wiggle and wave like big, soft ribbons in the sky. I am those colors. I am a beautiful, glowing light. Hello. My name is Aurora Borealis, but you can call me the Northern Lights.
I am made from sunshine whispers. The big, warm Sun sends a gentle puff of wind all the way to our world. When this special wind tickles the very top of our planet, poof. I start to glow. I dance and I shine in the sky. For a very long time, people told stories about me. A long, long time ago, on a day in 1619, a smart man named Galileo Galilei gave me my name. He saw me dancing and thought I was so pretty. He called me Aurora Borealis.
Now, people in warm, fuzzy coats travel far, far away just to see me. They look up, up, up into the sky and say, 'Wow.' Seeing my green and pink lights makes them happy. It shows them our world is full of wonderful, magical things. If you are ever way up north where it is cold and dark, look for me. I might be there, waving hello with my colorful lights.
