The Spark Inside You

Do you ever feel a little wiggle in your fingers when you hold a bright, colorful crayon. Or do you hum a little song that no one has ever heard before. That's me. I help you see a big castle in a pile of blocks or a fluffy white sheep in the clouds. Hello. My name is Creativity, and I am your superpower for making new and wonderful things. I am a happy spark inside you.

I have been helping people for a very, very, very long time. Way, way back, around 40,000 BCE, I helped the first people paint. They made amazing animals on cave walls using red and black colors they found in the earth. It was so much fun. Many years later, around 3500 BCE in a place called Mesopotamia, I sparked a super idea. I helped someone invent the wheel. It was round and helped them move heavy things. I was also great friends with an artist named Leonardo da Vinci. Around the year 1503, I helped him paint the famous Mona Lisa. I even helped him dream up silly flying machines that looked like birds.

Today, I am everywhere. I am with you all the time. I’m in every new dance you make up in your room and every tall building you see outside. I am in every new story you tell your teddy bear. I am with you when you build with colorful blocks, making towers that touch the sky. I am there when you draw a picture for someone you love. I am the special spark inside you that helps you imagine and create anything you want. You just have to let me shine.
