Hello. My name is Credit. I have a good friend named Borrowing, and we love to help people together. A very, very long time ago, even before shiny coins existed, I helped the first farmers. This was way back in 3500 BCE in a warm, sunny place called Mesopotamia. A farmer might look at his big field and not have enough tiny seeds to plant. I would whisper, 'You can borrow seeds from your friend.' The farmer would make a promise to give back the seeds, and maybe a few extra, after the yummy food grew tall. This promise was so important. It helped everyone have enough food to eat. I was not about money then, I was all about sharing and helping the whole village grow happy and strong.

Today, I still love helping people with their biggest dreams. Grown-ups use me to get a cozy house to live in or a car to go on adventures. You use my idea, too. When you borrow a colorful book from the library, you make a promise to bring it back so another friend can read it. That is me. I am made of promises and trust. I help people build amazing things and share with each other. A small promise you make today can grow into a wonderful, happy dream for tomorrow.
