The story

A Shuttle's Story

I remember the feeling of being built in a giant, echoing room. Piece by piece, the clever people put me together with strong metal and covered my belly in special black tiles that felt like a bumpy blanket. These tiles were very important, as they would protect me from getting too hot when I came back to Earth. I was carefully attached to a huge orange tank filled with fuel and two tall, white rockets. It felt like I was holding hands with two strong giants who would help me on the first part of my journey. For a long time, I waited and listened to the clinks, clanks, and whirs of the people working on me. They checked every wire and every button to make sure I was perfect. I knew I was being prepared for an incredible adventure, a trip beyond the bright blue sky and into the starry darkness of space.
