Just want Sunflowers (series)?
I am a splash of sunshine. I am a swirl of gold and yellow and happy brown. My petals are thick and bright, like little sunbeams you can touch. I stand tall in my little vase, reaching for the light, even though I live inside a frame. I am warm and cheerful, and I make people smile. Can you guess what I am? I am not just one painting, but a whole family of them. We are the Sunflowers, and we are full of light.
Our painter was a kind man with a big heart. His name was Vincent van Gogh. In the year 1888, he lived in a little yellow house in a sunny place called Arles, in France. The house was as bright as me. Vincent was waiting for his friend to come and stay, and he wanted to make the room beautiful and cheerful. He wanted to fill the room with happiness. So, he looked at the bright sunflowers in the garden and decided to paint us with thick, happy strokes of his brush to say 'welcome'.
Vincent loved us so much, and soon, other people did, too. Now, we live in big buildings called museums all around the world. Children and grown-ups come to see our sunny faces. We hang on the wall and shine our yellow light for everyone. We remind everyone that even on a cloudy day, you can find your own sunshine. And just like Vincent shared his happiness with his friend, we get to share our light with you, forever and ever.
