Just want Sunflowers (series)?
Hello there. Can you see my bright, happy colors. I am not just paint on a canvas. I am a jar full of sunshine, with petals that reach out like golden rays trying to give you a big, warm hug. My creator wanted me to feel cheerful and full of life, so he used the brightest yellows he could find. If you could gently touch my surface, you would feel that my paint is bumpy and thick. That is a special technique called impasto. The artist was so excited when he made me that he put lots of paint on his brush to show how alive and real I felt. I am not all alone, though. I am part of a big, sunny family. We are the Sunflowers, a whole group of paintings he created to celebrate our beauty.
The painter with a heart of gold who brought me to life was a very kind and special man. His name was Vincent van Gogh. In the sunny summer of 1888, he lived in a little yellow house in a beautiful town in the south of France called Arles. Vincent was very excited because his good friend, another artist named Paul Gauguin, was coming to visit and work with him. Vincent wanted his little house to be a cheerful, welcoming place for his friend. He imagined it as a studio where they could share ideas. To make it perfect, he decided to paint me and my sunflower sisters to decorate the walls of the guest room. He wanted his friend to wake up and see sunshine, even on a cloudy day. Vincent worked very fast, full of energy. He squeezed thick, buttery yellow paint right from the tubes and swirled it onto the canvas. He made my stems look strong and my petals dance with life.

My special time in the little Yellow House was just the beginning of my long journey. After Vincent could no longer care for me, I began to travel the world. Now, I live in a very large building called a museum, and my sisters live in other museums in different countries, so people everywhere can see us. For more than one hundred years, children and grown-ups have come to visit me. They stand in front of me and smile. They say my bright, joyful colors make them feel happy and hopeful, which is exactly what Vincent wanted. Even on a rainy day, I can bring a little bit of sunshine indoors for everyone to share. I am a reminder that you can find great beauty in simple things, like a flower in a vase, and that a splash of bright color can make the whole world feel a little bit brighter.
