The story

The Story of The Magic Flute

Can you hear that happy, sparkly sound. It’s a magic sound. When my music plays, little birds sing along and fuzzy bears start to dance. My sound can make your heart feel so happy. Inside my story, there is a brave prince, a kind princess, and a funny bird-catcher named Papageno who wears colorful feathers. There is also a Queen of the Night who shines like the stars. What am I. I am a special story you can sing. I am the opera called The Magic Flute.

A man who loved music dreamed me up. His name was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He wrote all my beautiful songs. His friend, Emanuel Schikaneder, wrote my fun adventure story. I was born a very long time ago, on a special day. It was September 30th, 1791. My first home was a big, beautiful theater in a city called Vienna. People came to see me on a giant stage. They smiled and clapped their hands. They cheered when the prince was brave. They giggled at the silly bird-catcher, Papageno. Everyone felt so happy listening to my songs.

Even though I am very old, my music still flies all around the world. Families come to theaters to hear my songs and watch my story. When they listen, they feel brave and full of joy, just like the prince and princess. My music tells a secret. It says that friendship and being kind are the real magic. They make the world a happy, bright place. So, the next time you hear a happy song that makes you want to dance, remember me. It’s a little piece of my magic finding its way to you.
