Just want Winnie-the-Pooh?
Deep in a cozy forest, where bees buzz and the sun warms the trees, I live. I am a silly old bear, stuffed with fluff from my nose to my toes. My favorite thing in the world is a yummy pot of honey, which always makes my tummy feel rumbly and happy. I love going on adventures with my friends, but mostly, I love just being together. My very best friend, a kind boy named Christopher Robin, gave me my name: I am Winnie-the-Pooh.
Before I lived in books, I was a real toy bear. I belonged to a little boy named Christopher Robin Milne. His father, a writer named A. A. Milne, loved to watch us play in our own special forest. He thought our adventures were so much fun that he wanted to share them with everyone. So, on October 14th, 1926, he put our stories in a big book for all the children to read. A wonderful artist named E. H. Shepard drew pictures of me and my friends—like little Piglet, sad Eeyore, and bouncy Tigger—so you could see exactly what we looked like on our grand adventures.
Soon, children all around the world knew my name. They read about how we played Poohsticks on the bridge and looked for magical creatures. My stories show that even a bear with a very little brain can be very brave and a very good friend. And that is my most important job. I am here to remind everyone that being kind, helping your friends, and sharing a little yummy snack are the best adventures of all. And I will always be here in my forest, waiting for you, whenever you want to play and imagine with me.
