Davy Crockett at the Alamo

Howdy, friend. My name is Davy Crockett, and folks know me for my coonskin cap and my fiddle. I came a long, long way to a big, strong fort in a place called Texas. The fort's name was the Alamo. It had tall walls to keep us safe. I came here with my friends to help the people of Texas who wanted to build their own special home. We knew it was important to help our friends, so we all gathered together inside the strong walls, ready to be brave and do the right thing.

Life inside the Alamo was busy. Starting around February 23rd, 1836, we all worked together. My friends Jim Bowie and William Travis were there too, and we were all very brave. We would look over the tall, strong walls and wait. Sometimes, when my friends felt a little worried, I would take out my fiddle. I played happy songs to make everyone smile and tap their feet. We promised each other that we would stay together and be courageous, no matter what happened. Being good friends made us feel strong. We shared our food, told stories, and made sure everyone felt safe and cared for.

Our time at the fort ended on March 6th, 1836. Even though it was hard, we showed the world how brave people can be when they stand together for something they believe in. Our story traveled far and wide, and it inspired so many other people to come and help. Because we were so brave, Texas was able to become the wonderful place it is today. My time on Earth is over now, but the story of our courage lives on. Always remember to be brave and help your friends, just like we did at the Alamo.
