Just want Carnival in Brazil?
Hello. My name is Lina, and I am a samba dancer. Today is my favorite day of the whole year. It’s Carnival. Carnival is a super big, happy party for everyone in my country, Brazil. It happens every year, usually in February or March, right before a quiet time comes. I get to wear my special costume. It is so sparkly with shiny bits that glitter in the sun, like a thousand tiny stars. And look at my headdress. I have big, soft feathers that are pink and yellow and blue. They tickle my nose when I wiggle and dance. My friends and I from my samba school have been practicing our happy dance moves for a very long time. We are all so excited to share our happy dance with everyone at the big parade. Soon, the music will start, and the party will begin. My heart is thumping like a little drum.
Here we go. The parade is starting. Boom, boom, boom. I can hear the big drums. The sound makes my feet want to tap and my hips want to sway. Look at all the bright lights shining down on the street. It feels like we are dancing on a rainbow. Here come the floats. They are like giant decorated cars, but so much bigger and more fun. One float looks like a giant, colorful parrot with a long tail. Another one is a sparkly castle that touches the sky. I see all my friends from my samba school. We are all wearing matching costumes and we dance together in a long line. We smile and wave to all the people watching. Everyone is clapping and cheering for us. The samba rhythm fills the air, and it makes my whole body want to dance, dance, dance all night long.

The parade is over now. My feet are tired from all that dancing, but my heart is so full and happy. I gave my best smiles and my best wiggles. Carnival is so special because it brings all of our neighbors and friends together. We all share the happy music and the joyful dancing. For a few days, everyone forgets their worries and just celebrates being together. I believe that music and dancing can make the whole world a happier place. I will sleep and dream of the wonderful sounds and colors. I can’t wait to do it all again at the party next year.
