My Dream of Friendship

Hello! My name is Martin, and I had a very big dream. I dreamed that everyone, no matter the color of their skin, could be friends. But a long time ago, some rules were not fair. These rules kept people apart. It made me sad to see that some friends couldn't play together or go to the same places. I wanted to help change that.

So, I asked all my friends to help. We decided to go on a long, peaceful walk together to show everyone that being unfair is wrong. We held hands and sang songs about hope and friendship. It was called the March on Washington. I stood up and told everyone about my dream. I said that I dreamed of a day when we would all be judged by our hearts, not by what we look like. We wanted the leaders of our country, like the President, to hear us and make a new, kind rule for everyone.

And guess what? They listened! The President, Lyndon B. Johnson, helped create a wonderful new rule called the Civil Rights Act of 1964. On a sunny day, July 2nd, 1964, it became a law for the whole country. This new rule said that all people should be treated fairly. It was a happy day and a big step in making my dream come true. You can help my dream keep growing by always being a kind friend to everyone you meet!
