Just want Hinamatsuri?
Hello there. I am an Empress doll. Most of the year, I sleep in my cozy, safe box. But once a year, on a very special day, I get to wake up. That day is March 3rd. It is called Hinamatsuri, or the Doll's Festival. Gentle hands lift me out of my box and smooth my beautiful silk clothes. Then, I am placed at the very, very top of a tall stand. The stand has many steps, all covered with a soft, fuzzy red carpet. I feel so proud sitting up high. I can see the whole room from here. I wait for my friends to join me for our big celebration.
Soon, I am not alone. My best friend, the Emperor doll, is placed right beside me. He looks very handsome. Then, one by one, our friends fill the steps below us. Our court ladies arrive in their pretty dresses. They help us. The musicians come next, holding their tiny drums and flutes. Can you imagine the sweet music they play. Last, our brave guards stand at the bottom to watch over everyone. The whole display is decorated with tiny, shiny lanterns that glow. And best of all, there are beautiful pink peach blossoms that smell so sweet. Our whole court is together, and we look wonderful.
Do you know why we have this special party. It is a happy day to wish for all the girls in the family to grow up healthy, happy, and strong. From my high seat, I can see a little girl smiling up at us. Her eyes are wide and full of joy. Seeing her happy makes me feel warm inside. I love being part of this special wish. I will sit here proudly until the festival is over, and then I will dream of our party next year.
