Just want Boi-Bumbá Festival - Brazilian?
Hello! I am the Boi-Bumbá Festival. I am a big, colorful celebration that happens every year deep in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, in a city called Parintins. When people gather for me, they come to watch a very special story unfold. My celebration is famous for telling a tale about a magical ox through music, dancing, and incredible art.
My special story is a famous Brazilian folktale that has been told for a long time. It’s about a man who harms a beloved ox. It is a sad moment, but the story doesn't end there. Through magic, the ox is brought back to life, healthy and strong once again! This story is very important because it shows how much the people of the Amazon value and respect animals and the nature that surrounds them.
One of the most exciting parts of my celebration is a competition between two teams. Each team tells the ox story, but they do it in their own unique way. One team is called Garantido, and their color is red. The other team is Caprichoso, and their color is blue. The people of Parintins and visitors who come to see me choose a side and cheer for their favorite team.
For three exciting nights in June, the teams perform in a special stadium called the Bumbódromo. The performances are huge! The teams use giant, amazing puppets and build incredible floats to help tell the story. Dancers wear bright, beautiful costumes, and the whole stadium is filled with loud music and singing. The crowd is split in two. One side of the Bumbódromo is covered in red for the fans of Garantido. The other side is a sea of blue for the fans of Caprichoso. They cheer and sing for their team with all their might!
