The story

The German Christmas Market

Hello! I am the German Christmas Market. I appear in town squares when it gets a little chilly, during a special time called Advent. This is the time right before Christmas. My little wooden houses stand in neat rows. At night, everything sparkles! My houses are decorated with many bright, twinkling lights. The lights glow and shine, making the whole town square feel happy and magical.

The air all around me smells so yummy. People visit me to enjoy delicious holiday treats. There are so many sweet and warm smells! Children can sip a special warm drink to stay cozy. It is called Kinderpunsch, which is a punch made just for them. People also eat wonderful gingerbread cookies called Lebkuchen. They are soft and taste sweet. Another amazing smell comes from sweet roasted nuts. They are warm and crunchy in a paper cone, perfect for keeping hands toasty on a cool evening.

My little wooden houses are also filled with amazing treasures. The stalls inside are full of beautiful things made by hand. People can find very special gifts for their friends and family. They might find carved wooden toys, like little spinning tops or tiny animals. They can also find sparkly glass ornaments that shimmer in the light. People use these beautiful treasures to decorate their Christmas trees or to give as presents to people they love.
