Just want Noche de San Juan - Spanish?
Hello! I am the Noche de San Juan. My name means the Night of Saint John. I am a special celebration that happens in Spain at the very beginning of summer. It is a time for people to have fun with friends and family on one of the shortest nights of the year.
When the sun sets and the sky grows dark, people gather together, often right on the sandy beaches. My biggest tradition is lighting big bonfires. The flames glow brightly against the night sky, and the fire feels warm and cozy. Families and friends sit near the fires, talking and laughing together. Some people have a special tradition where they write down things they want to forget or leave behind. They write their worries on a small piece of paper. Then, they carefully toss the paper into the bonfire, watching it disappear in the flames. This is their way of saying goodbye to old things and getting ready for new ones.
Fire is not the only important part of my celebration. Water is special, too! When it gets very late and the clock strikes midnight, something exciting happens. Many people run toward the ocean for a nighttime splash. They run into the cool water and have fun jumping over the waves as they roll onto the shore. People believe that the ocean water on this night is magical. They think it can wash away old worries and bring them good luck for the year ahead. It is a happy and hopeful way to end the night.
Today, people in Spain still celebrate me with bright fires and splashing waves. I am a night for being with loved ones, for saying goodbye to the past, and for welcoming a fresh, new start. It is a fun and exciting welcome to summertime.
