Just want Oktoberfest - German?
Hello! I am Oktoberfest. My story began a long, long time ago in a city in Germany called Munich. It all started with a big, happy party for a royal wedding. A prince was getting married to a princess, and they invited everyone in the city to come and celebrate with them. The fields were filled with people having a wonderful time. One of the most exciting parts of the celebration was watching the horse races. The horses ran so fast, and everyone cheered! That happy wedding party was the very first time people celebrated me.
Today, when people celebrate me, they still have so much fun. There are big parades that march down the streets with happy music playing. You can often see beautiful horses pulling decorated wagons, which reminds people of how I began. Families go to a big fair with exciting rides. Children love to ride on the colorful carousel, going up and down and round and round. There are also many tasty treats to eat. A special favorite is the giant pretzel, which is so big you might need two hands to hold it!
For my celebration, many people like to wear special clothes. These are traditional outfits that have been worn for a very long time. Boys and men might wear leather shorts that are called Lederhosen. These often have special straps that go over the shoulders. Girls and women wear a beautiful dress called a Dirndl. A Dirndl has a pretty blouse, a colorful dress, and a special apron tied over it. Seeing everyone in their Dirndls and Lederhosen is a big part of the fun.
