The story

The Story of the Sparkly Firework

Hello, I am a firework. Whoosh. I fly high, high up into the big night sky. Then, pop. I burst into a beautiful flower of bright, sparkling light. My story started a very long time ago, around the year 900. In a special place called China, a cook was making food. He mixed some special kitchen powders together by accident. When the powders touched a little fire, they made a big flash of light. That was the very first part of me. It was a happy surprise that would soon make the whole world smile and look up at the sky.

At first, my job was to be very loud. BOOM. My big sound would shoo away naughty spirits and keep everyone safe. But soon, people saw that I was not so scary after all. They thought my lights were pretty. So, they invited me to all their happy parties and big festivals. I loved making the night bright. Many years later, in a place called Italy in the 1830s, clever people found a new trick. They added special colorful dust to me. This magic dust made me burst into bright red, beautiful green, and cool blue. I was not just a loud pop anymore. I was a rainbow in the night.

Now, I get to travel all around the world. I fly on airplanes and boats to visit you. I light up the sky for special nights like birthdays and when the New Year begins. My favorite thing is to hear everyone say 'Ooh.' and 'Aah.' when I sparkle. I am so happy that I get to share my joy with you. I love painting the dark night sky with beautiful, sparkling colors for everyone to see and enjoy together.
