The story

I am a Moon Rocket

Hello, I'm a Rocket!. I am the Saturn V rocket. I was the tallest and strongest rocket ever built. My special job was to fly to the Moon. Long ago, people would look up at the night sky and dream of visiting the shiny, white Moon. They needed a very big and powerful rocket to help them go on such a big adventure. That rocket was me. I was so excited to help my friends explore the stars. I was built to make their super big dream come true, and I was ready to fly very, very high.

Getting Ready for a Big Trip. Lots of very smart people worked together to build me. A team at a place called NASA, and a man named Wernher von Braun, made sure I was strong and safe. Then, the big day came. It was July 16th, 1969. I stood tall and waited. Inside, there were brave astronauts, like a man named Neil Armstrong. It was time to go. With a great big RUMBLE and a SHAKE, my engines turned on. Whoosh. I pushed off the ground. I went up, up, up. I went past the white, fluffy clouds and the bright blue sky. I carried my friends higher and higher until we were in space, where everything is dark and quiet and full of twinkling stars.

A Giant Leap for Everyone. My job was to give the spaceship a big, strong push all the way to the Moon. Because I was so powerful, the astronauts were able to land safely and hop on the Moon's dusty ground. I helped people explore a whole new world. I don't fly anymore, but I am very proud of my big trip. I showed everyone that if you dream big and work hard, amazing things can happen. So when you look up at the Moon, remember the big rocket that helped friends go visit. You can have big dreams, too.
