The story

The Myth of Aeneas

Hello! My name is Aeneas, and I am sailing on a big wooden boat across a sparkly blue sea. My little boy, Ascanius, is with me, and so are all our friends. Our old home, a shiny city called Troy, is gone now, so we are on a grand adventure to find a new place to live. This is the story of my journey, the myth of Aeneas. We all sail together on the big, big boat.

The wind pushes our sails, whoosh! We sail for many days and nights. Sometimes the waves are big and splashy, but we are brave. We see happy dolphins jumping and race them across the water. They jump so high! At night, the stars twinkle like diamonds in the big, dark sky. I believe my mother, Venus, who is a goddess, is watching over us from the sky. She shows us which way to go. We stop at new lands to rest, see amazing sights, and gather yummy food before we sail on, always searching for our special new home.

After our long, long trip, we finally found it! A beautiful land with tall green trees and a gentle river. We knew this was the right place. We pulled our boats onto the shore and decided to build our new home here in Italy. My family would one day help build a wonderful, strong city called Rome. My story is very old, but people still tell it today. It reminds them that even after something sad happens, you can be brave, go on an adventure, and build something new and wonderful. It’s a story about hope that helps us all dream big.
