The story

Ariadne and the Magical Thread

On a sunny island called Crete, there lived a kind princess named Ariadne. The sea around her home was very, very blue, and near the castle was a big, twisty maze. A brave hero came to the island, and Ariadne knew she had to help him with the maze in the story of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur. The Labyrinth was like a giant puzzle with high, high walls that touched the big, blue sky. It was very easy to get lost inside.

Deep inside the maze lived a lonely creature. A hero named Theseus came to go inside the maze, but he was worried he would not find his way out again. Princess Ariadne had a very clever idea. She gave Theseus a special gift: a ball of shiny, golden thread. It was so shiny. It glowed like the sun. 'Hold this tight.' she said softly. 'Unroll it as you walk, and the thread will be a map to lead you safely back.' Theseus smiled a big smile and took the thread. He felt very brave.

Theseus walked into the twisty, turny maze. He held the golden thread tight, letting it unroll behind him like a little trail of sunshine. When his big adventure inside was all done, he looked down and saw the shiny path. He followed the golden thread all the way back to the beginning. He had solved the puzzle. Ariadne's clever idea worked. This story shows us how a smart thought and a helping hand can solve even the biggest problems. Helping a friend is a true superpower.
