Just want Chinese Dragon?
I swirl through the misty morning air, my long, scaly body gliding between clouds as soft as cotton. Hello down there. My name is Long, and I am a dragon who has watched over the lands of China for thousands of years. You might think all dragons are scary, but I am here to help. This is the story people have told about me for longer than the oldest trees have been alive, a myth they call The Story of the Chinese Dragon. I was not a creature to be feared, but a friend from the sky and the water. My job was to keep the balance between the earth and the heavens, making sure everything was peaceful and that people had what they needed to live happily. I swam in the deepest rivers and flew in the highest clouds, always keeping a watchful eye on the world below.
Long, long ago, people lived in small villages nestled by great, winding rivers. They planted tiny rice seeds in their muddy fields and waited patiently for the rain to help them grow big and strong. From my home high in the sky or deep in the water, I would watch them work. When I saw the ground become cracked and thirsty, I knew it was time to help. I would soar through the heavens, twisting and turning, calling the big, fluffy clouds to follow me like a parade. My breath would become a gentle mist, and my shiny scales would shimmer like a rainbow as I danced. This dance would bring the life-giving rain to the earth. The people would look up from their fields and cheer, knowing that their dragon friend was helping them. They said I had the strong horns of a deer, the watchful eyes of a rabbit, and the long, powerful body of a snake because I was a mix of all the best parts of nature. They were never afraid of me; they saw me as a sign of good luck and great power.

To thank me for the rain and for watching over them, the people created beautiful art. They painted my picture on delicate vases and long silk scrolls, showing me flying among the clouds. They carved my face into the walls of their most important buildings, like temples and palaces, to show strength and wisdom. When the new year came around, they had a very special celebration. The villagers would create long, colorful dragons out of paper, silk, and bamboo. Teams of dancers would lift my long body up on poles and weave through the streets, moving just like a river to the loud and happy sound of drums and cymbals. This is called the dragon dance. It is meant to bring good fortune to everyone for the whole year ahead. They believed my energetic dance could chase away any bad luck and welcome in a time of happiness, health, and good harvests. Even today, you can see me dancing through the streets during these amazing celebrations.
My story has been told for thousands of years, passed from grandparents to their grandchildren around warm fires. It reminds people to be strong like my body, wise like my mind, and kind like my heart. I am a symbol of good luck and the powerful, wonderful forces of nature. So the next time you see a picture of a long, winding dragon with horns like a deer, or watch a colorful dragon dance during Chinese New Year, remember me. I am Long, the friendly dragon of China, and my story continues to fly in the hearts and imaginations of people all over the world, connecting them to a time of wonder and magic.
