The story

Pandora's Box

Once upon a time, a man named Epimetheus lived in a world that was always sunny and happy. Everything was bright and warm, and everyone smiled all day long. His brother, Prometheus, was very smart and always said, "Think before you do something!". One day, the great god Zeus sent a special visitor named Pandora, and she carried a beautiful, mysterious box. This is the story of Pandora's Box.

Pandora was a wonderful friend. She and Epimetheus played all day in the sunny fields. But they always thought about the box. The box was so pretty! It had sparkly gems that shone like little stars. It had a big, shiny lock that kept it shut tight. Zeus told them, "Do not open the box. Never, ever open the box!". They tried to forget about it. But sometimes, they heard a little sound. Buzz, buzz, buzz. The sound came from inside the box, like tiny whispers. They got more and more curious every single day. What could be inside that pretty, sparkly box?

One afternoon, Pandora and Epimetheus could not wait any longer. Pandora lifted the lid. Just a little peek! Whoosh! Out flew lots of buzzing, grey things that looked like little moths. So many grey moths! These were all the troubles of the world, like owies and sad feelings and arguments. Oh no! They shut the box very fast. They felt very sorry. But then, they heard a soft, gentle sound. Tap, tap, tap. They opened the box one last time, and out fluttered a beautiful, glowing butterfly. It was Hope! Hope flew all around them, making everything feel a little bit better. The story shows us that even when things are tricky, there is always hope to help us feel brave and happy again.
