The story

Ersa, the Goddess of Dew

This is a story about a special goddess named Ersa. Every night, while the world is quiet and the moon is still in the sky, she gets ready for her special job. She carries the morning dew to all the thirsty plants. This is the story of Ersa, the Goddess of Dew.

Long, long ago, people would wake up in the morning. They saw tiny, sparkly drops of water on everything. The leaves were sparkly. The grass was sparkly. The flower petals were sparkly in the new morning sun. They wondered, where did this magic come from? It came from Ersa. She would fly through the cool air. She carried a big jug of fresh, clean water. She was ready to give the world a drink.

Ersa loved her job. She would dance over the fields and gardens. She would tip her jug just a little bit. Plink, plonk. A drop would land on a sleepy rose. Drip, drop. A whole line of dewdrops decorated a spider’s web. It looked like a diamond necklace. She made sure every little blade of grass got a sip. Ersa was so quiet, like a little whisper. No one ever saw her. But they always saw the beautiful, glittering world she left behind for them.

The old storytellers told their children about Ersa. It was their way of explaining the beautiful morning dew. It was a story about seeing magic in the world every single day. And even now, when you wake up and see those sparkly drops on the grass, you can think of Ersa's story. It is a little reminder that our world is full of quiet wonders. There is magic everywhere if you just look closely.
