The story

The Myth of the Griffin

High on a sunny mountain lived a very special creature. It had the body of a big, strong lion. Roar. It had the head of a mighty eagle. Screech. This amazing creature was called a Griffin, and this is the myth of the Griffin. The Griffin could run on its strong lion paws and fly with its big eagle wings. What a wonderful creature it was.

Long ago, the Griffin had a very important job. It guarded a nest full of shiny, sparkling gold. The gold was so bright in the sun. The Griffin sat on the tall mountain and watched everything below. Its sharp eagle eyes could see far, far away, like a little bird high in the sky. If anyone sneaky came near the gold, the Griffin would get ready. It would spread its giant wings. Whoosh. It would let out a big cry to say, 'Go away.'. The Griffin was a great guardian and kept the treasure safe day and night.

People loved the story of the Griffin. The story helped them remember to be strong like a lion and watchful like an eagle. They drew pictures of the Griffin on big pots and made statues of the Griffin on tall buildings. The statues looked so brave and strong. The myth of the Griffin reminds us that being a strong and watchful friend is one of the best things you can be.
