Just want Mr. Kotsky - Ukrainian?
Hello. My name is Lyssychka, and I'm known for being the cleverest fox in the forest. One day, I met a very fluffy but very sad cat who had been sent away from his home. He introduced himself as Pan Kotskyi, which sounded so important that it gave me a brilliant idea. This is the story of how a little bit of cleverness turned a forgotten cat into the respected Mr. Kotsky. The story begins long ago in a small Ukrainian village, where an old cat lived with his master. The cat was once a great mouse-catcher, but now he was old and his paws were slow. One morning, his master told him he was no longer useful and sent him away. With a heavy heart, the cat wandered into the deep, green forest, not knowing where to go. That’s where he met me, and I saw not an old cat, but a creature with a very grand name.
Being very smart, I invited Mr. Kotsky to live with me in my cozy den. Then, I scurried off to spread some very important news. I found the biggest animals in the forest: the grumpy bear, the wild boar, and the hungry wolf. 'Have you heard?' I announced. 'A new governor has been sent to rule our forest. His name is Mr. Kotsky, and he is terribly fierce with giant claws and a mighty roar.' The animals had never heard of a governor before and were very nervous. I warned them that Mr. Kotsky had a short temper, especially if he was hungry. Terrified of angering this powerful new ruler, the bear, boar, and wolf decided they must welcome him with a grand feast. They promised to bring their best food the very next day.

The next day, the animals brought honey, meat, and roots, piling them high on a large stump. But they were too scared to meet the fierce Mr. Kotsky. The bear climbed a tall oak tree to peek from above, the wolf hid behind a bush, and the boar burrowed under a pile of dry leaves. Soon, I arrived with Mr. Kotsky. The cat couldn't believe his eyes. He leaped onto the stump and began to eat, purring with happiness. 'Mur-mur-mur,' he rumbled. But to the hiding animals, his deep purr sounded like he was grumbling, 'More, more, more.' and they trembled with fear. After his meal, the sleepy cat looked for a soft spot to nap. He curled up on the boar's back, thinking it was a comfy pile of leaves, and began to sharpen his claws. 'Ouch.' yelped the boar, jumping up and running away. Startled, Mr. Kotsky sprang into the tree, right next to the bear. The terrified bear scrambled down and fled. Seeing the wolf’s tail twitching behind the bush, the cat pounced, thinking it was a mouse. The wolf howled in fright and disappeared into the woods. Mr. Kotsky, confused by all the commotion, ran back to my den.
From that day forward, the bear, the boar, and the wolf told everyone about the incredibly fierce Mr. Kotsky, and no one ever dared to bother him or me again. We lived happily and peacefully, always with plenty to eat. This story, called a 'kazka' in Ukrainian, has been told by parents and grandparents for hundreds of years to make children laugh and think. It teaches a wonderful lesson: you don’t need to be the biggest or the strongest to be brave and respected. Sometimes, being clever is the most powerful skill of all. Today, the story of Mr. Kotsky continues to inspire cartoons, puppet shows, and books in Ukraine, reminding everyone that a little bit of wit and a good story can change the world.
