The story

Hanuman the Hero

In a sunny, beautiful kingdom lived a magical white monkey named Hanuman. He was a very strong monkey, and a very brave monkey! His best friend was the kind Prince Phra Ram. One day, a big, grumpy giant with ten faces, named Thotsakan, stole the prince's lovely wife, Nang Sida, and took her away to a faraway island. The prince was so very sad. But brave Hanuman knew he could help his friend. This story about their big adventure is called the Ramakien.

To find Nang Sida, Hanuman had to cross a giant, sparkly ocean. The water went splash, splash, splash. Hanuman took a super deep breath and puffed out his cheeks. He made himself grow bigger, and bigger, and bigger, until he was as big as a mountain! Then, with a mighty WHOOSH, he jumped all the way across the big, blue water. He landed on the giant's island. He looked and looked, and in a pretty garden, he found Nang Sida! He gave her a special shiny ring from Prince Phra Ram. She was so happy to know that help was coming soon.

After he returned, Hanuman and Prince Phra Ram gathered a whole army of monkey friends. They all went together to the island. After a big adventure, they saved Nang Sida! Hooray! The good prince won, and everyone was happy again. Their story, the Ramakien, shows that good friends always help each other. It shows that being brave and kind is the most powerful magic of all. The story reminds everyone to be a good friend and that love is the strongest thing in the world.
