The story

Hanuman the Brave

My fur is as white as a cloud, and my heart is full of courage. I can make myself as big as a mountain or as small as a fly, and I leap through the sky with the power of the wind. My name is Hanuman, and I am the loyal warrior of the great prince, Phra Ram. Our story is one of bravery, friendship, and the fight between good and evil, and it is known throughout the land as the Ramakien.

I remember when our great adventure began long ago in a beautiful, peaceful forest. The noble Prince Phra Ram lived there with his kind wife, Nang Sida, and his loyal brother, Phra Lak. But one day, a terrible visitor came. It was Thotsakan, the ten-headed demon king from the island of Lanka. He saw Nang Sida’s goodness and wanted her for himself. Using a magical trick, he lured the brothers away and snatched Nang Sida, flying away with her to his faraway kingdom. When Phra Ram returned, his heart was broken, and I knew our paths were destined to cross.

Phra Ram and Phra Lak searched everywhere for Nang Sida, and their journey led them deep into my jungle kingdom. That is where Phra Ram met me. When I saw how good and true Phra Ram’s heart was, I knelt before him and promised to help. I called upon my friends, and soon we had a huge army of brave monkey warriors, ready for anything. I used my special powers to leap all the way to Lanka in one giant jump across the sea. I found Nang Sida in a garden and gave her Phra Ram's ring. "Help is coming," I whispered.

To get our whole army across the wide ocean to Lanka, we built a bridge made of giant stones that floated on the water. Then, the great battle began. Thotsakan’s army of giants and demons was scary, but Phra Ram’s monkey soldiers were braver. We fought with all our might, leaping and tumbling, showing how strong friendship and loyalty can be. The battle shook the earth and lit up the sky, but we knew we were fighting for what was right. We would not give up until Nang Sida was safe.

Finally, I watched as Phra Ram faced the mighty Thotsakan himself. With his divine golden arrow, he defeated the ten-headed demon king and rescued Nang Sida. We had won. The world was safe from evil once more, and light had won against the darkness. Phra Ram and Nang Sida returned home, and the whole kingdom celebrated our victory. Our adventure, the Ramakien, became a famous story, teaching everyone that courage, love, and friendship will always be stronger than selfishness and cruelty.

For hundreds of years, people have loved sharing our story. If you visit the grand temples in Thailand, you can see our adventure painted in bright colors on the walls. You can even see dancers wearing amazing masks of monkeys and demons to act out the story in a special performance called Khon. Our story reminds everyone that even when things seem scary, being brave and loyal to your friends can help you overcome anything. The Ramakien continues to inspire stories and art, showing that the adventure of good versus evil is a story that lives forever.
