The story

The Journey to the West

Hello. My name is Tang Sanzang. I love to read big, colorful books. One day, I wanted to find some very special books. These books were far, far away. The journey was very long. The road went up tall mountains and down into deep valleys. It was a little bit scary. I knew I needed friends to help me on my big trip. I needed brave friends to help me find the special books. This is the story of our big, big trip. People call it the Journey to the West.

Soon, I met my new friends. They were amazing. My first friend was a monkey. His name was Sun Wukong. He was a Monkey King. He could ride on a fluffy white cloud. Whoosh. He had a magic stick that could grow big or small. He was so brave. My second friend was a big pig. His name was Zhu Bajie. He was very strong and loved to eat yummy snacks. Oink, oink, munch, munch. He helped clear the path for us. My third friend was very quiet and kind. His name was Sha Wujing. He helped carry our heavy bags. We walked and walked together. We walked over tall mountains. We walked across wide rivers. Sun Wukong kept us safe. Zhu Bajie cleared the way. Sha Wujing carried our things. We were a great team.

We walked for a long, long time. And guess what. We found the special books. Hooray. The books had bright, beautiful pictures. We were so happy. We packed the books very carefully. Then, we started our long trip back home. Home, sweet home. Everyone at home was so excited to see us. They loved the new books. They loved the new stories. My friends and I were very proud. We learned that helping each other is the best adventure. When you work together with friends, you can do anything. That is the best magic.
