The story

The Ayar Brothers

Four brothers and four sisters lived inside a big mountain. One day, they stepped out of their mountain cave into the warm sunshine. Hello, world. Their father, the sun god, gave them a special job to do. They had to find a brand new home. He gave them a shiny, golden staff to help them find the way. This is the story of their big trip, the myth of The Ayar Brothers.

They walked and walked for a very long time. They went up the tall, tall mountains. They went down through the green, green valleys. One brother loved the big mountains so much, he turned into a snowy mountain to watch over everyone. Wow. Two other brothers found pretty stones they loved. They turned into stone statues to show the way for others. Hello, stone brothers. The last brother, Ayar Manco, and his sisters kept walking. They had to find their new home.

Finally, they found a beautiful, sunny valley. It felt just right. Ayar Manco took the shiny, golden staff and tapped it on the ground. Tap, tap, tap. The staff sank all the way into the soft dirt and disappeared. Poof. This was the special sign. They had found their home. Hooray. They named the place Cusco and built a wonderful city. This story tells us how a big adventure can help you find the perfect place to call home.
