The story

The Legend of Till Eulenspiegel

Once upon a time, there was a silly boy named Till Eulenspiegel. He loved to play funny games and make people giggle. Till lived in a town with bumpy streets and tall houses with pointy roofs. He saw that many grown-ups were very, very serious. Till wanted to turn their serious faces into happy smiles. He knew a little bit of fun could make any day brighter. This is the story of his funny tricks. This is the legend of Till Eulenspiegel.

One sunny morning, Till skipped into a bakery. It smelled so good, like warm, sweet bread. The baker was a very serious man who grumbled and mumbled. Till asked, “Can I help you bake?”. The baker wanted Till to go away, so he grumbled, “Bake whatever you want!”. So, Till did. He took the soft, squishy dough. But he did not make round loaves of bread. No, no. Instead, he shaped the dough into funny little owls and silly monkeys with long tails. When the baker came back, he saw a whole zoo of baked animals. At first, he was grumpy. But then he saw Till’s big, happy grin. The baker couldn't help it. He started to laugh, a big belly laugh that shook the whole shop. Soon, children came to the bakery. They loved the animal breads, and the bakery was filled with happy chatter.

Till’s tricks were not mean tricks; they were happy tricks. He wanted to help people see the world in a new, funny way. He showed everyone that it is okay to be silly. A good laugh is like magic. A big, happy laugh makes everything better. People in the town told stories about his funny games to their children, and their children told their children. Today, the stories of Till Eulenspiegel still remind us to find the fun in every day. They remind us to share a happy giggle with our friends and smile.
