Hello! We are the Butantan Institute. Our special home is in a country called Brazil. We are a team of helpers, and our job is to help keep people healthy. We have been working hard to help our community for a very long time.
One of the most important things we do is study animals. We learn all about slithery snakes and creepy-crawly spiders. Some of these animals have something called venom. If a snake or spider bites someone, their venom can make that person very sick. We carefully use a little bit of this venom to make a special medicine. We call it antivenom. This medicine helps people get all better if they are ever bitten.
We also make another kind of medicine to keep people from getting sick in the first place. This medicine is called a vaccine. You can think of a vaccine as a superhero shield for your body. It protects you from tiny germs that can make you feel unwell. The vaccine shield helps your body stay strong and healthy so you can run, jump, and play.
Every day, we are here in Brazil, working together. We make antivenom to help people who get bitten, and we make vaccine shields to protect everyone from sickness. Our work helps people all across Brazil stay safe and well. Being a team of helpers is a very important job, and we are happy to do it.
