Hello! We are Australia’s science team. Our full name is a very long one: the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. That’s a lot of words! You can just call us by our short name, CSIRO. We started working a long, long time ago, in 1949. Our job has always been to use science to help all the people who live in Australia. We love finding new ways to make things better for everyone.

We have a big team of scientists who are very curious. They like to ask big questions and find the answers! Our scientists study all sorts of amazing things. Some study tall plants and colorful flowers. Others study fuzzy animals and swimming fish. We even have scientists who look way up at the bright stars in the night sky. We also study the yummy food we eat. One time, our scientists had a very big idea. This idea helped create something called Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi lets computers and phones connect to the internet without any wires. It helps people share pictures and play games.

Our work is not finished. We are still working hard every single day to help Australia. We help farmers learn the best ways to grow healthy food for everyone to eat. We also work to help keep our beautiful blue oceans clean and safe for all the sea animals. Using science to solve problems is our most important job. We hope our work makes life better for you, your family, and everyone in Australia.
