Just want Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre?
Hello! We are the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre. That’s a long name, so you can call us by our short name, MBRSC. We are the space team for a country called the United Arab Emirates. Our main purpose is to explore the amazing universe around us. We use science and technology not just to look at the stars, but also to find new ways to help people right here on our home planet, Earth. We believe that by reaching for space, we can make life better for everyone down below.
Our story began in 2006. When we first started, one of our most important jobs was to build satellites. What’s a satellite? You can think of it as a special camera or a robot helper that flies high above the world, circling it again and again. These satellites are very important for our work. We built one named KhalifaSat, and its job is to take pictures of Earth from way up high. These pictures are not just pretty to look at. They help scientists learn more about our planet, watch how weather changes, and see how our cities are growing. By studying these images, we can understand our world in a whole new way.
After learning to build satellites, we started to dream even bigger. We wanted to send people and machines far out into space. To do this, we started an astronaut program to train people for space missions. One of our astronauts, Hazzaa Al Mansoori, made history in 2019. He became the first person from the United Arab Emirates to travel to the International Space Station! It’s a huge science lab that floats in space. Another one of our astronauts, Sultan Al Neyadi, went there too and spent six whole months living and working among the stars. We also built a special spacecraft called the Hope Probe. In 2020, we launched it on a long journey all the way to Mars to study the Red Planet and learn about its weather.

Our work in space is just beginning, and we are so excited about what comes next. We are already busy planning new adventures and new missions. We hope to explore the Moon and maybe even travel beyond it one day. Every mission teaches us something new, and we believe it’s important to share what we learn. Our goal is to keep exploring, keep learning, and share all of our amazing discoveries with the whole world. The universe is a huge place, and we have so much more to see and do.
