The story

Exploring Space with JAXA

Hello! We are the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. That is a long name, so you can call us JAXA. We are Japan’s team for exploring space. Our job is to learn all about the sky, the stars, and other planets. We love discovering new things that are very far away from Earth.

To explore space, we build special tools. We make very powerful rockets that can launch things high into the sky. Our rockets help send our other tools far away from our planet. We also build smart robots called satellites. Our satellites are like cameras that fly around Earth and other planets. They take pictures and help us learn new things about the universe.

We send our tools on exciting space adventures. We had a spacecraft called Hayabusa2. It flew to a faraway asteroid and collected tiny pieces of it. It brought those pieces all the way back to Earth so we could study them. We also work with helpers called astronauts. Astronauts from around the world work together on a big science lab that orbits the Earth. It is called the International Space Station.

Our work is to keep exploring. We use our rockets and satellites to look at our planet and the stars beyond. By working as a team, we learn more about space every day. There are always new things to discover when you look up at the sky, and we are excited to keep learning.
