Hello! We are Roots & Shoots. A kind scientist named Dr. Jane Goodall helped start our program a long time ago, in 1991. We are a special group for kids just like you who want to be helpers and make the world a better, kinder place for everyone.
Our groups are all over the world. In each group, young people work together as a team to do helpful projects. We think about what our planet needs to be healthy. One thing we do is plant new trees. We put tiny trees in the ground and help them grow big and strong. Trees help make the air clean for us to breathe. We also help clean up parks. We pick up trash so that animals like squirrels and birds have a safe and beautiful place to live and play.
We also love to help the people and animals right in our own neighborhoods. Sometimes, our groups collect food, like cans of soup and boxes of pasta, for families who might need a little extra help. We also think about our animal friends. We can make fun toys for cats and dogs who are waiting in shelters for their new homes. We believe that every single person, no matter how small, can do something good to make a difference every single day.
