Wildlife SOS

Hello! We are Wildlife SOS. Our name tells you what we do: we bring help to wildlife that is in trouble. Our story began in India in 1995. We were started by our founders, Kartick Satyanarayan and Geeta Seshamani, who wanted to create a team to protect animals. Our main job is to protect and save wild animals. We want to make sure that all of India’s amazing creatures are safe. We work hard every day to rescue animals that are hurt, lost, or in danger. We believe that every animal deserves to live freely and peacefully in its natural home, like a forest or a jungle, where it belongs.

One of our first big jobs was helping a special kind of bear called the sloth bear. For a very long time, some people would capture these bears and force them to 'dance' on the streets to earn money. This practice was very harmful to the bears and made them unhealthy and unhappy. We knew we had to do something to stop it. We worked very hard to end this practice for good. It was a huge project, and over time, we rescued more than 600 sloth bears. Today, these bears live in special, safe homes that we built for them. In these sanctuaries, they have lots of space to roam, play with other bears, and climb trees, just like they are meant to.

After our work helping the bears, we turned our attention to another gentle giant: the elephant. Many of these magnificent animals were also in difficult situations. Some were made to work for very long hours in busy cities or perform in circuses. This was not a good or natural life for such smart animals. So, we started rescuing them, too. We bring them to our special centers, like our Elephant Conservation and Care Center. This place is a peaceful home where they can finally recover. Our doctors give them medical care for any injuries. They get healthy food and can take long, relaxing walks. Best of all, they get to be with other elephants, forming families and friendships.

Our work doesn’t stop with bears and elephants. India is home to so many different kinds of wildlife, and many of them need our help from time to time. We often rescue leopards that have wandered into villages, as well as snakes, birds, and other animals that are hurt or in danger. To make sure we can help as quickly as possible, we set up rescue hotlines. These are special phone numbers that people can call if they find an animal that needs help. Our teams are always ready to respond to these calls. We will always be here to protect India's incredible wildlife for years to come.
