Just want Cambodia?
Hello. Can you feel the warm sunshine on your skin. Green trees grow tall all around me, and happy monkeys swing from the branches. Big, quiet rivers flow through my lands. High above the trees, you can see pointy stone buildings that look like giant crowns. They are my special temples, full of old secrets and happy memories. They have stood here for a very, very long time. I am the country of Cambodia, a special place in Southeast Asia. I am so happy you are here to hear my story and learn about my wonderful home.

A long, long time ago, a great kingdom called the Khmer Empire began here. That was around the year 802. The kings and all the people were very clever builders. They worked together to make big cities and amazing stone temples. In the early 12th century, a kind king named Suryavarman II wanted to build the biggest and most beautiful temple of all. He and his people stacked big stones, one on top of the other, just like you stack your blocks. They carved pretty pictures of dancers and animals into the stone walls. They built tall, pointy towers that reached for the big, blue sky. This incredible temple is called Angkor Wat, and it is my heart.

Now, I am a happy country full of smiles. On a special day, November 9th, in the year 1953, I became an independent country, which means I could take care of myself. My people today are so kind. They love to dance with graceful hands and share yummy food like sweet rice cakes. My ancient stone temples still stand tall in the sunshine. They whisper stories of the past and invite friends like you to come and visit. I love sharing my wonderful story with the whole world and showing everyone the beauty I hold.
