The story

The Story of the Blue House

My walls are painted a happy, bright blue, just like the sky on a sunny day. I have a big, beautiful garden where green plants grow tall and colorful flowers bloom all around. I live in a wonderful city called Mexico City. I am not just any house. I am a home full of sunshine, stories, and beautiful pictures. I am Casa Azul, the Blue House. I love it when the sun warms my walls and makes my color shine.

I was built by a kind father named Guillermo Kahlo a long, long time ago, in the year 1904. He made me strong and safe. A few years later, a very special baby girl was born right inside my walls. Her name was Frida Kahlo, and she arrived on July 6th, 1907. Frida grew up to be a famous painter. She filled my rooms with her amazing paintings, using all the colors of the rainbow. She also loved animals. She kept pet monkeys and parrots in my garden, and they would play all day. Her husband, Diego Rivera, was also a great artist, and he lived here too. Together, they filled me with art, love, and laughter.

After Frida’s time here ended, my doors opened wide so everyone could come and visit. In the year 1958, I became a museum. Now, children and grown-ups from all over the world can walk through my colorful rooms. They can see Frida’s bright paintings and all the special things she collected. I love sharing my happy colors and stories with everyone who visits. I am here to remind you to be creative, have fun with colors, and fill your own world with joy, just like Frida did.
