Just want Hội An Ancient Town?
I have warm, yellow walls that glow in the sunshine. A gentle river flows right by my side, where little boats bob up and down. At night, I twinkle with hundreds of colorful paper lanterns, like a rainbow sleeping in the dark. I love to light up the night for all my friends. I am Hội An Ancient Town, a cozy little town in a country called Vietnam.
A long, long time ago, starting in the 15th century, I was a very busy place. Big ships with puffy sails would visit me from faraway lands like Japan and China. They brought shiny silks, fragrant spices, and wonderful stories. Some of these friends stayed and built beautiful wooden houses. Around the year 1593, they even built a special bridge with a roof on it, called the Japanese Covered Bridge, so everyone could be neighbors.
The big ships don't visit as much anymore, but I am still full of friends. On a special day, December 4th, 1999, people decided I was so special that I should be protected forever. Now, families come to walk my quiet streets and see my pretty buildings. They float lanterns on my river, making wishes that sparkle on the water. I love sharing my colors and my happy history, and my lanterns still glow brightly for everyone to see.
