Just want Hudson Bay?
I am a big, big water hug for a great big land. I am so far north that in the winter, I wear a sparkly white coat of ice. Brrr. It is very chilly. Big polar bears with fluffy white fur walk on my icy coat, and gentle whales swim in my deep, cool water when it gets warm. The sun makes my ice melt, and I can splash and play again. I love my animal friends. I am a special place, a giant bay. My name is Hudson Bay.
Long, long ago, friendly people came to live by my shores. The Cree and Inuit peoples built their homes near me and fished in my waters. They were my very first friends. Then one day, a long time ago in the year 1610, a big wooden boat with white sails came floating by. It was a ship called the Discovery. A brave man named Henry Hudson was on the boat. He was looking for a secret path through the water. He sailed right into my big water hug. I was so happy to meet someone new from so far away.
A Home for Wonder Today, I am still a happy home for my polar bear and whale friends in a big country called Canada. When the night sky is dark, beautiful, colorful lights dance above me. They are called the Northern Lights. I love watching them shimmer and glow. I am here to connect the land and the sea, a big, wonderful part of the world for everyone to love and protect. I will always be here to share my wonder.
