Italy

I am shaped like a giant boot in the middle of a warm, sparkly sea. The sun loves to shine on my green hills and my sandy beaches. I smell like yummy pizza baking and sweet tomatoes growing in the garden. My name is Italy, and I have so many stories to tell you.

A long, long time ago, a special city named Rome was born inside me. The people who lived there, called Romans, were amazing builders. They built strong roads to connect all my towns. Around the year 80, they finished a giant, round stadium called the Colosseum for big shows. You can still see the incredible things they built today.

Many years later, around the 1400s, I was filled with wonderful artists. People like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo painted beautiful pictures and carved amazing statues that looked like they could talk. It was also a time for big adventures. In the year 1492, a brave explorer named Christopher Columbus sailed from my shores to discover new parts of the world.

Today, I am a place full of cheerful music, fast cars, and delicious ice cream called gelato. People from all over the world love to visit me. They explore my old cities, splash in my blue waters, and eat my yummy food. I love sharing my sunshine and stories with everyone. I hope you'll come say 'Ciao.' to me one day.
