Just want Kennedy Space Center?
I am a special place on the sunny coast of Florida, where the air smells salty and tall, tall buildings touch the clouds. From far away, I look like a city of giant building blocks. I have giant doors, bigger than any house, and long roads made for the biggest rockets you can imagine. My job is to help shiny spaceships blast off to the stars. It is the best job in the world. I feel so happy when I hear them roar. I am the Kennedy Space Center.
A long time ago, a president named John F. Kennedy had a giant dream for everyone to visit the Moon. He thought it would be a wonderful adventure. So, in the year 1962, lots of busy people started building me to help make that dream come true. They built me strong and tall. My most exciting day was July 16th, 1969. I helped the brave Apollo 11 astronauts fly away on a giant Saturn V rocket. The ground rumbled and shook with a big, friendly roar as they soared up, up, up to the Moon. I waved goodbye with a puff of smoke. I was so proud of them.
After we went to the Moon, I helped launch amazing Space Shuttles that looked like airplanes. They would fly into space and then glide back down to Earth. Today, I am busier than ever. I help new rockets and new astronauts explore even more of our amazing universe. They go on exciting missions to learn new things. I love watching every single launch. Maybe one day you can visit me and watch a rocket fly to the stars, too. I will be here, dreaming of the next big adventure.
