Just want Oslo?
I feel cool, sparkling water tickle my shores and tall green trees reach up to the sky like gentle giants. Little islands dot my water like sprinkles on a cupcake. I am a special city in a country called Norway. Hello. I am Oslo.
_A City by the Water_ A long, long time ago, around the year 1048, a Viking king with a big beard helped me grow. His name was Harald Hardrada. I loved watching the tall Viking ships sail on my water. They had colorful stripes on their sails. But one day, a long time later in the year 1624, I had a big ouchie. A fire made me very hot and sad. A kind king helped me feel better. He built new houses for me and gave me a new name, Christiania. It was a nice name, but I missed being Oslo. After many, many years, on January 1st, 1925, I got my old name back. It felt so good to be called Oslo again. I did a happy wiggle.
_My Viking Story_ Today, I am a happy, busy city full of fun things to see and do. You can come visit the very same ships the Vikings used to sail. They are sleeping inside a big house now. You can also see a giant ski jump that touches the clouds. Whee. And there is an amazing building called the Opera House that looks like a shiny iceberg you can walk on. I love having old stories and new adventures side-by-side. Please come visit me. We can make new memories together.
