The story

The Mountain of Many Colors

High up in the clouds, I am a sleepy, colorful surprise. I have stripes of red, yellow, and green, just like a rainbow resting on the ground. I live in a country called Peru, where the sky is big and blue. Can you guess who I am. I am Rainbow Mountain. It is so nice to meet you. I love when the sun shines on me and makes my colors bright for everyone to see. It feels like I am wearing my favorite party clothes every single day.

My beautiful colors are a secret that I kept for a very long time. Millions of years ago, different colored soils and minerals settled on me in layers. It was like making a big, stripy cake, with one layer of red, then one layer of yellow, and another of green. For a very, very long time, I wore a white, snowy blanket that covered all my colors. No one could see them. But the world got a little warmer, and around the year 2015, my snowy blanket melted away. I could finally show everyone my beautiful stripes. I was so happy to share my secret with the world.

Now that my colors are not a secret anymore, friends from all over the world come to visit me. They walk up my sides to see my stripes up close. I love to watch their happy faces and see them smile. They take pictures to remember how colorful I am. I am a beautiful surprise that nature made, and I am so glad I can share my rainbow colors with you and everyone else. I am here to remind you that the world is full of wonderful, colorful surprises.
