Just want Saint Sophia Cathedral, Kyiv?
Hello. Can you see me? I wear big, shiny golden hats that sparkle in the sun. They look like a golden crown for my city, Kyiv. Inside, my walls are like a storybook, covered in sparkly pictures made from teeny-tiny, colorful stones. These pictures have been here for a very, very long time. I am Saint Sophia Cathedral, and I have a wonderful story to tell.
A kind and wise prince named Yaroslav the Wise wanted to build something beautiful to say thank you. So, his best builders started making me way back in the year 1037. They worked so hard, putting tiny pieces of colored glass and stone together to make amazing pictures called mosaics. One picture shows a kind lady with her arms open wide. She watches over everyone who visits. For hundreds of years, families came here to sing songs, listen to stories, and feel peaceful and safe together.
I have stood here for almost a thousand years, watching the city grow all around me. I've seen horse-drawn carts and now I see shiny cars. Today, I am a special museum. People from all over the world come to see my golden domes and sparkly pictures. I love sharing my old stories and my quiet, happy feeling. I am a treasure that reminds everyone of beauty and history, and I hope to stand tall for many, many more years.
