The story

The Story of Scotland

I have tall mountains that touch the clouds and deep, sparkly lakes that shimmer in the sun. My lakes are very special, so we call them lochs. My hills are covered in soft, green grass, perfect for adventures. If you listen closely, you can hear the happy sound of my bagpipes playing a song on the wind. People who live here sometimes wear special patterned skirts called kilts. I am a land of wonderful stories. I am Scotland.

My story began a long, long time ago. The first families came to live with me and built little houses out of stone. They were cozy and warm inside. Many years later, people built big, strong castles on my green hills to be safe. Kings and queens with shiny crowns lived inside my castles, like the one in a city called Edinburgh. I loved watching people have fun. They created special games called the Highland games where everyone would laugh and cheer and show how strong they were. It was a happy time full of exciting stories.

Today, I am a friendly place where children laugh and play on the same hills where my castles have stood for hundreds of years. Families come to see my beautiful sights and maybe even look for my famous, friendly monster, Nessie, in a lake called Loch Ness. She is very shy but loves to say hello. I love sharing my songs, my stories, and my adventures with everyone. I will always be a place where you can find a little bit of magic.
