Just want Sundarbans?
I am a place where my roots get wet with both river water and salty sea water. You can hear monkeys chattering and birds singing in my branches. I am a giant, green blanket where the land meets the sea. My trees stand on stilts in the water, holding their leafy branches up to the sun. Can you guess who I am. I am the Sundarbans.
My amazing trees have special roots that poke up from the mud to breathe, like little snorkels. I am home to so many wonderful creatures. I have spotted deer, fishing cats, and bright kingfisher birds. My most famous friend is the big, stripy Royal Bengal Tiger, who loves to swim in my rivers. For hundreds of years, people have lived here too, fishing in my streams and collecting sweet honey. In the year 1987, people from all around the world said I was a special treasure that needed to be kept safe forever.
I am like a big, strong shield for the land, protecting it from big ocean waves. I give homes to my animal friends and make clean air for everyone to breathe. I am a magical, wild place where the forest and the sea dance together. Taking care of me helps take care of our wonderful world, and that makes me very happy.
