Just want Teotihuacan?
In the warm, sunny land of Mexico, I have big stone hills that reach for the sky. One is very tall and loves the sun. Another loves to look at the moon and stars at night. People say I look like I was built by giants. Do you know who I am? I am Teotihuacan, which means The City of the Gods. I am a very special, very old city made of stone, and I have a wonderful story to tell you.
A very, very long time ago, around the year 100 BCE, clever builders started making me. They stacked big stones, one by one, like giant building blocks. Families came to live here in cozy homes with pretty pictures painted on the walls. Children would run and play along my big, wide street, called the Avenue of the Dead. It sounds a little spooky, but it was a happy place. The people built my two biggest pointy hills, my pyramids, to say hello to the sun and the moon. They finished them around the year 250 CE. I loved hearing the sounds of people laughing and talking all day long. My streets were full of friends and families.
After many happy years, the families who lived here moved to new homes. I became a quiet, sleeping city. The wind whispered through my empty streets. Then one day, many years later, around the 1300s, new explorers called the Aztecs found me. They saw my giant pyramids and thought I was magical. They gave me my name, Teotihuacan. Today, I am awake again. Friends from all over the world come to visit me. They climb my pyramids, touch my warm stones, and imagine all the children who once played here. I love sharing my secrets and reminding everyone to dream as big as my pyramids.
