Imagine a place where the sun shines bright on fields of gold. Tall sunflowers reach for a big, blue sky that feels like a cozy blanket. A gentle wind whispers through the golden wheat, making it dance and sway. It sounds like a happy, quiet song. This is a special place where people love to sing and tell wonderful stories. I am a big, beautiful country in Europe, and my name is Ukraine.

My story is very, very long. It started a long time ago, around the 9th century. A great kingdom called Kievan Rus’ began right here, and the city of Kyiv was its heart. The people who live here have always loved to make beautiful things. They wear special white shirts with colorful pictures stitched on them. These amazing shirts are called vyshyvanky. For happy holidays, they paint eggs with wonderful patterns and bright colors. These little works of art are called pysanky. They are like tiny presents that show how much love and care my people have in their hearts. They love to share their beautiful art with everyone.

I remember one very happy day. It was on August 24th, 1991. On that day, I became a free and independent country again. Everyone celebrated with joyful songs and big smiles. My flag has two beautiful colors that show what I love most. The blue stripe is for my big, open sky, and the yellow stripe is for my sunny fields of wheat. The people who call me home are strong, brave, and very kind. They share their songs and their hope with the whole world, reminding everyone to be kind and to dream big.
