Decision Making (Making Good Choices)

Hello. My name is Decision Making. I'm that little voice inside you that helps you choose what to do, especially when you want to make a good choice. I was with you on the 3rd of last month when you had to decide between finishing your homework or playing video games. I am the skill that helps you pause, think about the options, and pick the path that's best for you and the people around you. I help you look at a situation from different sides, weigh what could happen, and choose a direction. Making choices is a part of growing up, and I am here to help you learn how to do it well.

I was there for a boy named Leo on the 15th of October. During recess, he faced a tough choice when his friends wanted to play a game that would exclude the younger kids. This is where I stepped in. First, I helped Leo pause and identify the problem: his friends wanted to do something that felt unfair. Together, we thought through his options. He could go along with his friends and play the exclusive game, or he could suggest a game that everyone, including the younger children, could join. We considered the consequences of each choice. If he stayed quiet, some kids would feel sad and left out. If he spoke up, he might make his friends think differently. Guided by his own feelings of fairness, Leo decided to advocate for kindness and suggest a game for everyone.
